Cuttack: In order to solve the problems faced by schoolteachers, Odisha’s Cuttack district collector Dr Bhabani Shankar Chayani has started ‘chai pe charcha’ (discussion over tea) programme with them.
Under the initiative, claimed to be first in the state, the collector will hold a meeting in district and block headquarters every Friday. While the teachers will file their complaints, grievances and problems, the collector will try to solve those in an amicable atmosphere over tea.
While the inaugural meeting was held at Khannagar High School in the city, the collector heard the complaints of the headmaster of Sutahat Nodal Primary School Rabindra Kumar Behera in the second meeting on Friday. He along with government officials also had tea in Behera’s house.
As many as 82 complaints were received in the first meeting, while 16 teachers submitted their problems to the collector in the second meet. Dr Chayani directed the officials to make a detailed analysis of the problems and solve those within a week.
Speaking on the occasion, he said in order to improve the quality of education, the problems faced by the teachers should be addressed first. A tension-free and relaxed working condition can only motivate the teachers to perform to best of his level.
The collector hoped that such programmes would not only boost their confidence but also ensure their trust in the administration. Several officers of district administration and education department were present.
