Cuttack: In a bold move, the district administration of Cuttack has issued an order to withhold the salary of several officials for poor progress in flagship schemes like MGNREGS and Rural Housing.
As per sources, Cuttack District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde has issued stern directives to BDOs of at least seven blocks following unsatisfactory progress in these rural schemes.
During the review of work under schemes, including MRNEGA, the Collector found the progress quite poor. It was found that the MRNEGA work was not making satisfactory progress in Athgarh, Banki, Salepur, Mahanga, Nishchintkoili, Narasinghpur and Tangi-Choudwar blocks.
The BDOs of these blocks have been asked to withhold the salary the officials concerned. Salepur BDO has taken strict action for negligence in MRNEGA and Rural Housing Scheme work.
As per information, Salepur BDO has stopped the salary of Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, PEOs and ADEO.
As per the order, the salary of these officials will be withheld until visible improvement is made in the execution of these schemes.
The directive states that salaries will remain withheld until satisfactory progress is achieved.
