Cuttack: A five-member police team has been interrogating the suspected Cuttack serial killer, Narayan Sahu (35), at an undisclosed place, sources said on Tuesday.
The interrogators wanted to elicit further information from the suspect and also know the motive behind the three murders allegedly committed by him during the marathon grilling, the sources added.
Sahu is a native of Odagaon Sunamuhi village in Nayagarh district.
Case History
Sahu attacked his victims with a sharp weapon while they were asleep and enjoyed watching them die, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty had informed on Monday.
Six days after the brutal killing of three homeless daily wagers in Cuttack, a special team of the Commissionerate Police had arrested Sahu late on Sunday from Sunamuhi area.
The Commissioner further said that the accused had wore the same clothes while committing the murders.
Earlier, forensic reports had claimed that all three murders were executed in a similar fashion. The three victims were attacked in their sleep and the injuries were of similar nature. The reports also inferred that the obsessed killer enjoyed killing people.
Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh told the media on Monday: “During the investigation, police found that the accused had fled the city after the murder of the three persons.”
Singh revealed that police had examined the CCTV footage and found that the assailant had used a bhujali to commit the murders between 4 am and 4.30 am.
“However, police made a breakthrough after a man from a neighbouring district gave a senior police officer the details of the serial killer. Acting on the tip-off, five special teams, comprising an additional commissioner of police (ACP), inspectors, sub-inspectors and 12 constables, raided several areas in Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Balasore and Ganjam districts and finally arrested Sahu from Ganjam district.”
