Cuttack: The body of a man who went missing on Monday night was recovered from Mahanadi river by rescuers a day later. The deceased, identified as Prasanta Rout (29), belonged to Chhatra Bazar area of the city.
Rout had allegedly jumped into Mahanadi at around 11 pm on Monday night, leaving behind his footwear and motorcycle at the Lover’s Point near Odisha State Maritime Museum, on the bank of the river.
A joint team of the ODRAF and Odisha Fire Service was able locate the body of Rout after an intensive search and rescue operation that continued till Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, Rout had an altercation with his family members of the fateful night following which he left for Jobra and took the extreme step.
Local police have registered a case of unnatural death in this connection and investigating further.
