Cuttack Psycho Killer: MLAs Join Police Patrolling

Cuttack: While police are still clueless about the psycho killer on the prowl in Cuttack, the MLAs of Barabati-Cuttack, Mohammad Moquim and Choudwar-Cuttack, Souvic Biswal joined the police patrol teams in their respective constituencies late on Saturday night.

Sources said the MLAs spoke to the homeless and others sleeping on footpaths to create awareness among them.

Police from Chauliaganj, Mangalabag and Malgodown are are conducting patrolling from midnight till 4 am to trace the psycho killer, who is suspected to be lurking in the Millennium City.

“Passengers and other homeless are forced to rest on footpaths as the rest room at Badambadi bus terminal is locked while the night shelter is yet to be made functional even though the renovation works have been completed,” said Moquim.

Notably, the body of a middle-aged man with his head crushed was recovered at Ranihat on Tuesday morning. Two more bodies with injuries were recovered from Chauliaganj and Mangalabag areas on Wednesday morning.

All the three incidents took place between 3 am to 4 am.

“The person behind these brutal murders seems to be abnormal. We will shift the homeless and those who are sleeping on footpaths to shelter homes,” said Souvic.

CCTV Clue

Meanwhile, police have picked up a biker who had reportedly dropped one the victims at SCB Medical College and Hospital after being attacked near the OMP Square on Tuesday night. They had stumbled upon this person while verifying CCTV footage.

Apprehending police complications, the biker had dropped the 55-year-old victim on Medical Road. The victim was found dead at the spot the following morning.

“We have got some leads in the case. The CCTV footage shows that the third victim was actually attacked near OMP Chhak,” Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh.

This means, two of the victims were attacked at OMP Square.

The DCP said a special team was working on all angles. “We hope to crack the case soon,” he added.

Postmortem Report

Police believe the assailant may have been the same person as the postmortem reports of the three victims indicate the use of the same weapon of attack.
