Bhubaneswar: The redevelopment of Cuttack Railway Station in Odisha has taken a significant step forward with the successful removal of unauthorised shops and structures from the Station Bazar area in front of Gate No. 01.
This eviction marks a crucial milestone in the ambitious project aimed at transforming the station into a world-class facility.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) said on Monday that the eviction drive was conducted to facilitate the construction of a front road and circulating area. A total of 32 shops needed to be removed for this purpose. In a well-coordinated effort, ECoR, with the support of GRP (Government Railway Police) and RPF (Railway Protection Force), successfully evicted 30 shops following all prescribed procedures. The remaining two shops could not be removed as they are currently under sub-judice, it said in a statement.
This successful eviction paves the way for the development of the circulating area and road widening. The existing 10-meter-wide road will be expanded to 18 meters, ensuring smoother traffic flow and improved accessibility for passengers. The timely completion of this phase is a significant step in keeping the redevelopment project on schedule.
The redevelopment of Cuttack Railway Station promises to bring modern infrastructure, enhanced passenger convenience, and world-class amenities. Indian Railways remains committed to executing this transformative project efficiently, aiming to make the station a hub of comfort, efficiency, and modern facilities for lakhs of passengers.
With this crucial milestone achieved, the redevelopment work is expected to progress rapidly, bringing the vision of an upgraded, well-structured, and passenger-friendly Cuttack Railway Station closer to reality.
