Cuttack: The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan) in the Millennium City is likely to be converted into a dedicated COVID hospital to tackle a possible third wave of COVID-19.
Talking to the media on Saturday, COVID Nodal Officer of Cuttack district Dr Umesh Ray said that a proposal has been made to convert it into a dedicated COVID hospital and allow the functioning of the Paediatric Department of the SCB Medical College and Hospital as a non-COVID hospital. “A final decision on it is yet to be taken,” he added.
On the prevailing pandemic situation in Cuttack district, Ray said that the rate of infection in the district is gradually coming down.
To ensure timely treatment to critical patients, more ICU beds are being added in the COVID hospitals in the district, he said.
