Cuttack: The immersion ceremony of Durga idols that began on Tuesday night at Devigada in Cuttack, will end on Thursday afternoon.
Commissionerate Police informed that 108 medhas of the total 162 in the city have been immersed in the temporary pond at Devigada. The immersion ceremony is going smoothly and it is expected to be concluded in the afternoon.
In view of the large congregation of devotees, police have tightened security in the immersion area. So far, there has been no untoward incident in the city, police said.
In Bhubaneswar, the immersion ceremony had concluded by 3 am on Thursday. The idols of the Goddess were immersed in temporary ponds near the banks of Kuakhai and Daya rivers.
