Cuttack:Transgenders in the city have threatened to gherao the Assembly on Tuesday to demand safety, justice and respect in society.
“Even after seven years of the Supreme Court verdict, we are yet to get equal rights in society. We don’t receive any government help to make a decent living. We also don’t have any pension or ration card facility,” Cuttack Kinner Mahasangh secretary Sony Kinner told the media on Monday.
“We need a Kinner Welfare Board in Odisha. We want to be involved in the mainstream society. So we will protest in front of the Assembly by following all the COVID guidelines. We will also submit a memorandum of our demands to the government,” Sony added.
Besides Sony, other members of the Mahasangh including Kajal Kinner, Shital Bastia, Tanushri Behera and Mithi Kinner were present at the press meet.
