Cuttack: Hockey India (HI) will be organising the FIH Men’s World Cup Celebration at Barabati Stadium here on January 11, 2023.
The prestigious tournament will be held at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29, 2023.
To ensure smooth conduct of the much-awaited event, a preparatory meeting chaired by Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports & Youth Services, Odisha, R Vineel Krishna was held at the venue on Saturday.
The Sports Secretary emphasised that Odisha has always played the perfect host, setting a benchmark with its spectacular hosting of 2018 Hockey World Cup. This time, too, no efforts are being spared to make this event exemplary, said Vineel Krishna.
He advised officials to support and work closely with HI to ensure the city is prepared to welcome the World Cup event and spectators have a great experience.
Traffic management and crowd control aspects were discussed in detail.
Dedicated fire, security and health teams will be deployed days prior to the celebration.
RDC Central Division, Collector Cuttack, CMC Commissioner, Secretary OCA, various department officials were present at the meeting, along with HI officials.
