CWG 2018: Shreyasi Adds Another Gold To Medal Tally

Gold Coast: The medal rush continued for India in the Gold Coast Games, with the shooters adding three more gold in the medal tally. Shreyasi Singh earned the gold medal for India, while Om Mitharval and Ankur Mittal clinched a bronze each. This is Mitharval’s second bronze in the Games.

MC Mary Kom confirmed another medal for India as she proceeded to the final of 45-48 kg boxing event. Fellow boxers Gaurav Solanki, Vikas Krishan and Manish Kaushik also entered semi-finals.
In badminton singles, Saina Nehwal defeated South Africa, while World No 2 Kidambi Srikanth brushed aside Mauritius. PV Sindhu also won her singles’ round against Fiji opponent. Ruthvika Gadde defeated Ghana while HS Prannoy got the better off Mauritius.

In the mixed doubles event, the pairs of Satwik Rankireddy/Ashwini Ponnappa and Pranaav Chopra/Sikki Reddy won on the round of 32 matches.

India men’s team, who are already through to the semi-final won its final group stage match against England 4-3 in a thriller to set up semi-final clash against New Zealand. The women’s team will play against Australia on April 12.

In squash and table tennis, the Indian contingent also registered victories.

In athletics, Tejaswin Shankar finished sixth in men’s high jump final while Hima Das finished sixth in 400m final.
