Birmingham: The Indian women missed out on a medal in the 4 x 100m relay event as it finished fifth in the Commonwealth Games 2022 here on Sunday.
The team, spearheaded by Odisha sprinters Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda, stopped the clock at 43.81 seconds, which was below their season’s best of 43.55.
Like in their semifinal heat – in which they finished second behind Jamaica in 44.45 secs — Dutee ran the first leg, followed by Hima Das and Sarabani, while Jyothi anchored the team today as well.
The change of batons were pretty smooth, but the Indians were outclassed by far superior rivals, The Nigerians bagged gold with a time of 42.10 secs, Britain silver in 42.41 and Jamaica bronze (43.08).
