Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has arrested four persons from Gujarat for allegedly duping a Bhubaneswar man of Rs 60 lakh on the pretext of online stock trading.
According to police sources, the victim had lodged a complaint with the cyber cell of the Odisha Crime Branch about the fraud committed on him on May 4.
During the investigation, conducted by a team of cyber police on the basis of the complaint, it was found that cyber crime syndicate had allured the complainant into online trading with assurance of high returns. In the name of trading, the fraudsters extracted around Rs 60 lakh from him.
The team led by Inspector Jibanananda Jena collected digital evidence against the accused persons and traced their location in Gujarat. A team of the cyber police went to Ahmedabad to apprehend the accused.
The Odisha team with the help of the Crime Branch of Gujarat Police raided various locations and arrested the four accused persons from Fatewadi.
The arrested persons were produced before a court in Ahmedabad and brought on transit remand to Bhubaneswar. The Crime Branch produced them before the SDJM court in Bhubaneswar which remanded them to judicial custody.
