Bhubaneswar: The urban police district (UPD) of Bhubaneswar has registered cases of cyber frauds amounting more than Rs 72 lakh in October.
The cyber help desk of the UPD received total 425 calls during the month. Those included 240 from Bhubaneswar and 185 from other parts of the state.
As many as 106 UPI fraud cases, 32 credit/debit card fraud and 102 other cases were registered by Bhubaneswar UPD. The total fraud amount for Bhubaneswar was Rs 72,33,836.
Meanwhile, the property offence prevention and detection (POPD) team of different police stations under Bhubaneswar UPD have arrested 177 property offenders in September.
The team has recovered 144 stolen mobile phones of different brands, 73 stolen vehicles, 2.59 kg of gold ornaments, 3 laptops and one pistol during the month.
While four NDPS cases have been registered, 10 drug peddlers were arrested and forwarded to court. Similarly, 514 gram of brown sugar and 28.27 kg of ganja have been seized.
