Cybercrooks Misuse Odisha IAS Officer’s Name For Fraud, Complaint Filed



Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Arindam Dakua has filed a complaint at a cyber police station in Bhubaneswar over alleged misuse of their name, identity, and designation by cybercriminals, a common tactic used for digital extortion and fraud.


According to the complaint, the cyber criminals have scammed several people by demanding money after procuring a mobile number and creating a fake email ID in his name. He submitted that the scammers have been using a specific mobile number which is not issued to him, as verified through the Sanchar Saathi portal.

Dakua is a 2011 batch IAS officer, who is currently serving as Director of Municipal Administration and Ex-Officio Additional Secretary in the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department. He earlier served as Private Secretary to the CM .

An investigation is underway to trace the culprits and assess the scale of the fraud.
