Balangir: In a hit and run case, a man on a bicycle was mowed to death by a speeding Hyva truck at Deogaon near NG 26 connecting Balangir with Titlagarh in Odisha on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Maheswar Rana of Sagarpali village in Balangir.
According to sources, Maheswar was on his way home when he was run over by the speeding truck. He died on the spot.
Following the accident, agitated locals blocked the road and demanded compensation for the bereaved family. Police reached the spot and pacified them.
The driver fled the spot.
A police probe has been initiated.
