Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday updated the Centre about Cyclone Amphan. In a video conference with the Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said about 44.80 lakh people of 1500 panchayats in 89 blocks had been affected.
“Efforts are on to restore the road communication in these affected blocks. Besides, the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) is trying its best to restore power under its jurisdiction in a couple of days. However, 80% power connection will be restored by Thursday evening,” Tripathy said.
He told the cabinet secretary that the state government will assess the extent of damage on agriculture within two days. Meawhile, 210 medical teams and 75 veterinary teams have been sent to the affected areas.
On the death of a three-month-old boy in Tihidi block in Bhadrak district due to the wall collapse, he said that the government will do the needful after receiving the district collector’s report.
