Bhubaneswar: About 30 lakh power consumers in Odisha have been badly hit by Cyclone Amphan, which wreaked havoc in the coastal districts while crossing the coastline on Wednesday.
According to the Energy Department, about 17 lakh consumers of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Khurda and Cuttack districts under the jurisdiction of the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU), 11 lakh of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj under the jurisdiction of the North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Limited (NESCO) and 1.60 lakh consumers of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangapur districts under the jurisdiction of the Southern Electricity Supply Company Of Odisha Limited (SOUTHCO) have been affected.
The Energy Department has said that work is going on in full swing to restore power at the earliest possible.
