Odisha: The first death due to cyclone Amphan has been reported in Bangladesh when a Red Crescent volunteer drowned on Wednesday as a boat capsized while evacuating villagers in the path of the super cyclone, the organisation said.
“There were four of them on the boat when it sank,” Nurul Islam Khan, director of the Cyclone Preparedness Programme of the Bangladesh Red Crescent, was quoted as saying by AFP.
Meanwhile, the landfall process for this super cyclone has begun in Sundarban area of West Bengal and it is likely to continue for four hours.
