Bhubaneswar: The Centre on Tuesday released Rs 552 crore for damage rendered by Cyclone Bulbul in Odisha’s coastal districts.
Earlier on November 28, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai had told Rajya Sabha that the Odisha government reported that there was no loss of human life, but a total of 38.08 lakh people were affected.
The minister had also informed that the Centre has sanctioned Rs 552 crore to Odisha under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) with additional financial assistance extended from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Stating that the primary responsibility for disaster management rests with a state government, Rai said the Centre extends all possible logistics and financial support to the states to supplement their efforts to meet calamities effectively.
