Cyclone Dana: Over 5.84 Lakh Evacuated In Odisha; CM Hails Asha Worker For…

Bhubaneswar: Over 5.84 lakh people were evacuated from low-lying areas of 11 coastal districts of Odisha on Thursday ahead of Cyclone ‘Dana’ landfall, according to official sources.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hailed ASHA worker Sibani Mandal of Khasmunda village under Rajnagar block of Kendrapada district for carrying an elderly woman on her shoulders to a cyclone shelter during evacuation drive.

He added that Dana is expected to make landfall near Angula in Bhitarkanika of Kendrapada district. During the landfall, a tidal surge of up to 2 metres is expected, with the cyclone reaching the coast at a wind velocity of 120 kmph.
