Bhubaneswar: Even as landfall process of cyclone Gulab is continuing close to South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coast, land slide has been reported from Gajapati district in the state. There is no casualty.
According to sources, the road between Namangarh and Ajaygarh in the district has been blocked due to the landslide from Raipanka hill almost at the same time the cyclone made the landfall.
However, there was no casualty or damage to property as people of around 50 houses on the foothill had been shifted to cyclone shelter at K Sitapur.
The district administration and rescue teams have been engaged in clearing the debris from the road to restore communication.
Similarly, the road linking Sorada in Ganjam district and Daringibadi in Kandhamal district has been sealed in apprehension of landslide. The administration has put up barricades on the road to prevent any mishap due to landslide.
Meanwhile, Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena has said the landfall process will be completed between 9 pm and 9.30 pm tonight. The cyclone will cross land mass in the area between Tekali and Modiguda in Andhra nearly 25 km from Kalingapatnam.
