Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Gulab is likely to weaken into deep depression and enter Koraput district after making landfall at Santhaguda in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.
Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena in his latest alert said the cyclone is likely to enter Koraput after the landfall. But there has not been much impact of the cyclone on Odisha so far.
Except rains in some parts, the wind speed has not been alarming in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts which were forecast to be on the path of the cyclone, he added.
Stating that the wind was blowing at a speed of 70 kmph in Srikakulam, Jena said Ganjam and Gajapati districts in Odisha may feel its influence.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its 10 pm special bulletin said the cyclone has moved westwards from Andhra coast and was moving at a speed of 26 kmph.
It lay centred at 170 km from Gopalpur and 50 km from Kalingapatnam in Andhra. It is likely to move further westwards and weaken into deep depression in next 6 hours, the IMD stated.
