Bhubaneswar: With the very severe cyclonic storm Yaas most likely to cross the Odisha coast in the next 72 hours, the Centre has decided to send 10 additional NDRF teams to the state.
NDRF Director General Satya Narayan Pradhan said in New Delhi on Sunday that the Centre had earlier sent 22 teams to Odisha. But following the request of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), 10 more teams will be airlifted to the state by this evening.
He also said that as the IMD has predicted that the cyclonic storm will cross between Paradip and Digha coast on Wednesday and move towards West Bengal, 35 NDRF teams will be moved there.
“The NDRF teams will be pressed into duty depending on the requirement and they will carry out rescue operations on the basis of their experience during Cyclone Tauktae,” Pradhan pointed out.
