Bhubaneswar: With Cyclone Yaas most likely to hit the Odisha and West Bengal coasts on May 26, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will hold a review meeting with senior officials through video conferencing on Saturday afternoon.
Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena and other senior officials will remain present at the meeting to review the state’s preparedness.
Cyclone Update
As per the latest update by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the cyclonic circulation over south-east and adjoining central Bay of Bengal is most likely to intensify into a low-pressure area over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea by Saturday afternoon.
The system is very likely to move north-westwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent 48 hours on May 24 and reach the North Bay of Bengal between Odisha and West Bengal coasts in the morning of May 26, the Met Centre’s duty officer, Umashankar Das, said.
