Bhubaneswar: As the Cyclone Yaas inches closer to Odisha coast, DGP, Fire Services, Odisha, M Akhaya once again reviewed the preparedness of his teams with all senior officers of Odisha Fire Services.
All total of 190 special teams of Odisha Fire Service have been deployed in the districts likely to be affected by the cyclone. Each special team is equipped with power saw, combi-tools, tower lights and other rescue equipment. Plasma cutter has also been provided, he said.
The teams will engaged in clearing uprooted trees, electric and telephone poles to clear the roads, Akhaya said.
The DGP, Fire Services laid stress on deployment of personnel in the most affected areas and as per requirement of the local administration.
It has also been decided to pre-position pumps in areas which are likely to receive heavy rainfall under the impact of cyclone and face water-logging which is mostly witnessed in cities like Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri.
Akhaya also instructed the fire service personnel to follow COVID guidelines during their work.
