Bhubaneswar: Faced with the challenge of supplying uninterrupted power to COVID hospitals during and after cyclonic storm Yaas, Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra on Sunday said standby arrangements have been made in case of power outage.
All COVID Care Centres, COVID hospitals and medicals will be provided uninterrupted power to ensure that the facilities function normally, said Mishra who chaired an emergency meeting on the day.
The leave of all electricity department employees has also been cancelled in view of the cyclone, he added. Discoms, especially TATA, has been directed to maintain extra vigilant to resolve any power failure issue on war footing.
Special teams have been constituted for post cyclone restoration works too, informed Mishra.
On the other hand, the Water Resources department too has issued directives to 10 districts that have been asked to remain alert for better flood management, in case of any such eventuality.However, there is little likelihood of flood situation during this cyclone.
A 24-hour control room has been opened to maintain coordination with the authorities of all districts and ground level officials.
Leaves of all employees have been cancelled and everyone has been directed to stay at the headquarters, the department sources said.
