Bhubaneswar: While some parts of interior Odisha experienced sporadic rainfall on Friday, the Met office has forecast light rain or thundershower in the north and coastal districts in the next 24 hours.
Talking to the media on Saturday, Duty Office of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, RK Nayak said that the rain in the state had occurred due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over Bihar and the neighbourhood, which now lies over north Chhattisgarh and it’s neighbourhood.
Under its influence, light rain or thunder shower is likely to occur at one or two places over the North Odisha districts and Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Khurda, Balangir and Sonepur districts in South Odisha on Saturday with light rain or thundershower at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Khurda in the subsequent 24 hours on Sunday.
A morning release said that light rainfall was recorded in Jharsuguda (4.5 mm), Keonjhar (0.6 mm), Sambalpur (0.8 mm), Sundargarh (10 mm) and Hirakud (0.7 mm).
The release has also predicted moderate to dense fog at one or two places in Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts in the next 24 hours.
