Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued Nor’wester warning for one or two places in 16 districts of Odisha.
Under the influence of cyclonic circulation, which is embedded in a trough from Odisha to north interior Karnataka and now lying over south Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood, there will be thunderstorm and lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Koraput late on Saturday afternoon, the IMD’s midday bulletin said.
Similar conditions will also prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and Angul on Sunday afternoon, it added.
In view of the Nor’wester, people of these districts have been advised to remain indoors.
