The event was meant to spread awareness against traffic violations like drunken driving, over-speeding, triple riding, wrong side driving, driving using mobile phones and not wearing seat belt and riding without helmets.

Transport Commissioner, MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Ollywood actors Papu Pom Pom and Sabhyasachi Mishra were present.

Every year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways observes the National Road Safety Week in the second week of January.

This year, however, the Ministry has decided to observe a month-long initiative from January 18 to February 17 to ensure a more effective awareness on the rising number of deaths due to road mishaps in the country and necessary ameliorative measures to fight curb it.
