Aska: Armed dacoits struck a house and decamped with jewellery and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees at Balichai A. Barida village in Aska of Ganjam late on Tuesday.
Sources said, the couple, who were inside the house, tried to resist the dacoits, but they sustained grievous injuries as the miscreants attacked them with sharp weapons and fled the spot.
The couple was later rescued by neighbours and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A case in this regard has been registered at the local police station.
“Apart from the couple’s house, similar loot incidents were also reported from a liquor shop and three other houses in the locality. It is suspected that these dacoits are also involved in the other incidents”, a police officer informed.
