Bhubaneswar: Infocity Police on Thursday busted a gang involved in several theft and dacoity cases in Odisha capital and nabbed its key members from a playground at Patia in the city.
According to police, five members of the gang were arrested when they were planning a dacoity attempt on Heart Beat Wine Shop in the city.
The accused have been identified as SK Islam alias Kadam who has 48 cases against him, Romi Nayak, Kartik Behera, Jitendra Samal and K. Shivaji.
An iron rod, knife, two bottles of liquor and other intoxicating substances were seized from them.
“We found a sword and dagger from them. When the miscreants were brought to the police station, it was found that among them was Kadam who has 48 property offence cases against him and every police station in Bhubaneswar has a case against him, ACP Ramesh Bishoi told media.
The miscreants stayed in different rented apartments in Bhubaneswar and planned the dacoities.
A case has been registered under Section 399 and 402 Of IPC and Section 25 of Arms Act against the arrested persons who have been sent to judicial custody, the ACP added.
