Sambalpur: In a major breakthrough, police busted a 10-member inter-state dacoity gang in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Wednesday.
Around 500 grams gold, Rs 5.12 lakh cash, two SUVs, 2 tractors, 4 two-wheelers and other incriminating items were seized from their possession, SP Mukesh Bhamoo said.
“The net worth of seized items would be around Rs 75 lakh. The gang carried out robberies in western Odisha districts. Their targets were rice mills, petrol pumps and local distilleries,” the SP said.
A total of 21 criminal cases are pending against members of this gang in different police stations of Sambalpur Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts.
All the arrestees are residents of Sambalpur district. The police is ascertaining their links with gangs active in the neighbouring states.
