Daily COVID-19 Cases In Bhubaneswar Fall By Nearly 50%

Bhubaneswar: The capital city registered a near-50% decrease in fresh COVID-19 cases, with 471 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, 919 people had tested positive.

Because of Cyclone Yaas, testing was affected in several districts of Odisha on Wednesday. Hence, the overall daily caseload in the state itself came down from 11,623 to 6,736.

Of the new cases, 118 are from quarantine and 353 through local contacts.

Maximum cases were reported from Patia and Old Town (15 each), followed by Jharpada (14), Laxmisagar (13), Mancheswar and Patrapada (12), Nayapalli (11), Dumduma and Saheed Nagar(9), Baramunda, Khandagiri Bari, Rasulgarh and Gajapati Nagar (8 each).

Meanwhile, 1,062 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases in the city stands at 72,354.

Bhubaneswar has seen 5,99,08 people recover from coronavirus so far. It currently has 12,097 active cases.
