Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in the capital city, which was hovering around 150 so far this week, zoomed to 267 in the last 24 hours.
As many as 111 new cases were reported in the city on Wednesday, 152 on Tuesday, 118 on Monday, 149 on Sunday and 157 on Saturday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 84 of the new patients on the day are from quarantine and 183 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, maximum 13 cases were reported from Nayapalli, followed by 10 from Samantarapur, 9 from Khandagiri and 8 from Jharpada.
As many as 144 patients recovered from the disease while the number of deceased due to COVID remained at 1,028 with no more death reported during the period.
The active cases stood at 3,495 while total 1,14,018 people have been infected by the virus so far.
