Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in the Odisha capital dropped below 200 with 174 new cases in the last 24 hours against 214 on Sunday.
While 162 were found infected on Saturday, the number had swelled to 288 on Friday after 258 new cases were reported on Thursday, 221 on Wednesday, and 226 on Tuesday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 51 of the new infections are from quarantine and 123 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, maximum of 11 cases have been reported from Nayapalli, followed by 10 from Khandagiri and 7 from Jharpada. As many as 23 among those infected are in the age group of 0-18 years with the youngest being two three-year-olds.
Bhubaneswar also saw another 127 patients recovering from the disease during this period. The number of deceased due to COVID has remained at 1,009.
The active cases have gone up to 3,475 while 1,09,628 people have been infected so far.
