Bhubaneswar: After a gap of nine days, the daily COVID caseload in Odisha dropped below 200 on Monday as 185 people, including 35 in the age group of 0-18 years, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The state had reported 262 new cases on Sunday, 247 on Saturday, 263 on Friday, 271 on Thursday and 387 on Wednesday.
According to the I & PR department, 109 of the new infections are from quarantine and 76 local contacts. Khurda reported the highest 76 cases followed by 18 in Sambalpur and 14 in Cuttack. Twelve districts saw nil cases.

With these cases being detected from 56,857 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.32 per cent. The TPR was 0.43 per cent on Sunday, 0.40 per cent on Saturday, 0.39 per cent on Friday, 0.43 per cent on Thursday and 0.60 per cent on Wednesday.
Though the COVID situation seems to be under control in Odisha, the number of children getting infected by the virus has become a matter of concern. A total of 642 children tested positive for the virus between November 1 and 14.
With this, 90,361 children have so far been infected in the state.
While the COVID tally has touched at 1045656, Odisha now has 2,719 active cases.
