Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in the capital city remained above 200 for second consecutive day on Thursday as 233 persons tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours.
The city had reported 209 positive cases on Wednesday, 194 on Tuesday, 144 on Monday, 158 on Sunday, 141 on Saturday and 191 on Friday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 64 of the new patients on the day are from quarantine and 169 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, maximum 10 cases were reported from Patia, followed by 8 each from Nayapalli, Niladri Vihar and Pokhariput, 7 from Bomikhal and Saheed Nagar and 6 from Unit VIII.
As many as 169 patients recovered from the disease while the number of deceased due to COVID went up to 1,045 with one death reported during the period.
The active cases stood at 3,575 while total 1,16,689 people have been infected by the virus so far.
