Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in the capital city remained above 200 for second day on Friday as 207 persons tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours. The city had reported 218 infected persons on Thursday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 40 of the new patients on the day are from quarantine and 167 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, maximum 22 cases were reported from Nayapalli, followed by 13 from Chandrasekharpur, 9 from Patia and 8 from Jaydev Vihar.
The city also saw 184 patients recovering from the virus during the period while the number of deceased due to COVID remained at 1,014.
The active cases went up to 3,693 while total 1,11,785 people have been infected so far.
The daily infections had remained below 200 for three days this week as 186 cases were reported on Wednesday, 138 on Tuesday and 147 on Monday. In the last week, there were 218 new cases on Sunday and Saturday, 267 on Friday and 213 on Thursday.
