Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in Odisha crossed 100-mark with 104 fresh infections being detected in the last 24 hours as the country added 6,050 cases, the Health Ministry data revealed on Friday.
The active cases tally in the state has touched 429 with 34 more patients having been cured.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has called a review meet with the health ministers of all states and Union Territories this afternoon to review the preparedness to tackle this worrying upward curve.
The Odisha government has already asked the districts, where the infection is rising, to intensify contact tracing and testing to curb further spread of the disease. The state had reported 92 cases on Thursday and 68 on Wednesday, a day after the caseload doubled and active tally crossed 200-mark with 53 new infections. Cuttack, Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Khurda and Sambalpur reportedly have the maximum COVID cases.
Odisha has a test positivity rate of 1.4 per cent compared to the national average of 3.3 per cent.
