Bhubaneswar: The number of daily COVID positive cases, which has been sliding for the last one week, dropped below 200 in the capital city on Wednesday.
According to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 197 persons tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours. The city had reported 235 cases on Tuesday, 211 on Monday, 227 on Sunday and 307 on Saturday.
Of the new cases, 46 were from quarantine and 151 were through local contacts. Among local contacts, maximum 10 cases were detected in Old Town, followed by 9 in Chandrasekharpur and 8 from Baramunda.
While 185 patients recovered during the period, the number of deceased has gone up to 978.
The city now has 3,153 active cases and total positive cases have gone up to 10,4,492, the BMC stated.
