Daily COVID Positivity Rate Drops Further In Odisha; 12 Districts Out Of Red Zone

Bhubaneswar: The daily test positivity rate (TPR) in Odisha dropped further to 10.51 per cent on Saturday as 7,395 of 70,313 samples tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

The TPR was 11.26 per cent the previous day.

With the state reporting less than 8000 new cases for the second day in a row, the number of Red Zone districts has also dropped to 13 from 25 in the last 48 hours.

The number of active cases, the doubling rate of confirmed cases and the extent of testing and surveillance feedback are taken into account while declaring a district as a COVID hotspot.

According to the I&PR Department, 4,169 of the fresh cases are from quarantine and 3,226 local contacts.

Khurda continued to lead the tally with over 1000 cases for the second consecutive day with 1069 more people getting infected. Cuttack and Jajpur recorded 868 and 516 cases, respectively.

With this, the total caseload in Odisha crossed the 8-lakh mark. The state now has 78,687 active cases.
