Bhubaneswar: Much to the relief of the consumers, the daily market at Unit I in Bhubaneswar will reopen on Wednesday after remaining closed for 6 days.
The president of Unit I Market Traders’ Association on Tuesday said they have decided to reopen the shops after a successful meeting with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on their various demands.
The traders of the market had pulled down the shutters on September 28 and announced not to reopen till the demands were fulfilled by the BMC.
Their demands included adequate parking space for the vehicles of the consumers as well as the traders coming to the market, necessary drainage facilities to keep the market neat and clean and demolition of the temporary shops set up by the traders by encroaching the market space.
“The BMC assured to resolve the issues raised by the traders in the meeting. Considering the BMC’s assurance and the difficulties faced by the consumers, we have decided to reopen the shops from tomorrow,” the Association president said.
