Bhubaneswar: Daughter of veteran leader Damodar Rout and former corporator of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Pritinanda Routray, has filed her nomination as an independent candidate from Bhubaneswar (North) Assembly constituency for the upcoming polls.
Her rivals are BJD’s Sushanta Rout and actor-turned-politician Aparajita Mohanty of Congress. The Bhubaneswar (North) will go to polls in the third phase on April 23.
After Dama’s exit from the BJD, Preetinanda had resigned from the ruling party on March 16, citing “personal reasons”. Speculation was rife that she would join the BJP, following in her father’s footstep.
However, her brother Sambit Routray is contesting the polls from Paradip assembly constituency on BJD ticket.
