Boudh: Seven persons, belonging to a Danda Nacha troupe, were critically injured after being brutally attacked by locals at Bondiripalli in Odisha’s Boudh district late on Sunday.
Among the injured are two priests and five ‘Danduas.’ They have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
According to sources, the group was scheduled to perform at Chandigada village on Sunday. However, the head priest refused to stage the traditional folk form after a person died in the village, leaving the residents angry.
As the troupe members were heading for Bondiripalli village, some people of Chandigada intercepted and wrangled with them members before launching a brutal attack.
As the condition of a priest deteriorated, he was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, in Sambalpur.
