Cuttack: A woman was saved from drowning due to daring and prompt action of a lady police officer in Odisha’s Cuttack.
According to sources, the woman belonging to Pareswarsahi of the city accidentally slipped into the barrage at Jobra on Wednesday night. As she started drowning and cried for help, locals gathered there. But nobody had the courage to go into the barrage to rescue her.
On coming to know about it, a team from Jagatpur police station, which was doing night patrolling in the area, rushed to the spot. The woman hanged on to an iron rod of the barrage and was desperately seeking help.
The woman police officer immediately jumped into the barrage and managed to pull the drowning woman from the barrage. The woman was admitted in the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack. Her condition was stated to be stable.
Local people and higher police officers have appreciated the daring act of the lady police officer.
