Puri: In view of the rising COVID-9 cases, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to sanitise the premises every Sunday due to which the temple will remain closed for devotees.
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Krishan Kumar informed media persons on Sunday that the step has been taken to check the spread of coronavirus.
As was the practice after the reopening of the temple in December, Srimandir will be sanitised every Sunday.
Though the decision was taken at Chhatisa Nijog meeting on March 23, the temple administration confirmed it today.
Besides discussing measures to COVID-19 and restrictions on the visit of devotees, the SJTA had given permission for holding Agniutsav ritual at the shrine on March 27 and Dola Purnima on March 28.
