Dawn-To-Dusk Bandh Cripples Normalcy in Sundargarh

Rourkela: Normal life was crippled due to a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by Sundargarh Citizens’ Committee in the district on Saturday, demanding abolition of toll tax in Biju Expressway.
Most shops, markets and business establishments remained shut, while vehicles stayed off the roads at many parts of the district.
However, emergency services and educational sector have been exempted from the purview of the strike.
“We are opposing illegal toll collection at Masnikani gate and Laing on the Biju Expressway, which was dedicated to the people by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on March 12”, an agitator said.
More than 10 platoons of police force have been deployed in the district to prevent any untoward incident.
