Jharsuguda: Normal life was paralysed in Jharsuguda on Wednesday owing
to a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by locals under the banner of Hanuman
Seva Samiti opposing the relocation of the district headquarters hospital.
Most business establishments, shops, educational institutions and
offices remained closed while vehicles stayed off the road as the
protestors staged blockades at various places.
“The district administration has decided to relocate the hospital to a
new building near Balijuri. We strongly oppose such move as healthcare
services will be largely affected, if the hospital is shifted from the
old building. The decision should be immediately withdrawn, failing
which the protests will be intensified”, an agitator said.
