Dawn-to-dusk shutdown hits life in Kalimela

Malkangiri: Normal life was affected in Kalimela area of Malkangiri district on Tuesday following a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the state Congress, seeking fulfillment of their five-point charter of demands.

Almost all shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained shut and vehicular movement to Motu and Malkangiri was badly affected due to the bandh with party workers blocking roads at several places by burning tyres.

“We condemn the rampant corruption in the local tehsil office. The district administration should initiate proactive steps to check the same,” an agitator said.

Residents of Kalimela and nearby areas have been deprived of basic amenities, including proper roads. So, the administration must address the issue on priority basis, the agitator added.
